About Sony VAIO

VAIO is a sub-brand used for many of Sony’s computer products. Originally an acronym of Video Audio Integrated Operation, this was amended to Visual Audio Intelligent Organizer in 2008 to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary. The branding was created by Timothy Healy to distinguish items that integrate consumer audio and video with conventional computing products, such as the Sony VAIO W Series personal computer, which functioned as a regular computer and a miniature entertainment center.

Although Sony made computers in the 1980′s exclusively for the local (Japan) market, the company withdrew from the computer business around the turn of the decade. Sony’s re-entry to the global computer market under the new VAIO brand, began in 1996 with the PCV series of desktops. The VAIO logo also represents the integration of analog and digital technology with the ‘VA’ representing an analog wave and the ‘IO’ representing a digital binary code.

Sony VAIO Keyboard Types

If you’re searching for a Sony VAIO keyboard there is one of two types of keyboard that you’ll probably be looking for. Either you need a replacement keyboard which fits into your exisintg notebook (these can be sourced online for as little as $12-15 depending on model), alternatively you might be looking for an external keyboard which interfaces with your notebook, possibly for use when the notebook is connected to a large screen TV.

If your Sony VAIO laptop has bluetooth then any bluetooth wireless keyboard, or even standard USB keyboard will fit, however Sony do make a number of keyboards which guarantees that it will be fully compatible. Here is the current most popular bluetooth keyboard:

Sony Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard (Model number: VGP-BKB1)

Portability meets versatility with the VGP-BKB1 Bluetooth® wireless keyboard. Connect your Bluetooth-enabled devices in seconds and send emails, write notes or search the internet using the full-sized keyboard. Perfect for home, office or travel, this wireless keyboard also comes with two (2) AAA batteries and a zippered carrying case.

Sony VAIO Keyboard Skins

In addition to standard keyboards, many Sony VAIO notebooks allow the use of keyboard skins to change the colour and style of your notebook. These are available for many different models indcluding the C Series, E Series, S Series and Y Series amongst others. These skins come in different colours, and also in different languages for not English speakers.

We hope this Sony VAIO keyboard information has been useful to you, please get in touch with any questions.
